Eriksen, 28, arrived at Inter from Tottenham in January, but he has yet to find his best form in Milan.
And according to Sky Sport, the Nerazzurri offered him to Bayern, who had been looking for a Thomas Muller back-up.
Inter’s proposal included experienced Germany defender Boateng, 32, moving in the opposite direction.
However, Boateng was back in top form by then and Bayern were not interested in letting him go.
Ultimately, no new club was found for Eriksen, with Inter reportedly turning down three loan bids.
The Dane now has a chance to prove himself in the weeks ahead, but could be available in the January transfer window.
Eriksen appeared for 64 minutes in Inter’s season opener against Fiorentina before being taken off.
Since then though, he has been limited to a late substitute appearance in Inter’s 5-2 win against Benevento.
He was an unused sub in Inter’s 1-1 draw against Lazio in their last match before the international break.
