“I heard from my agent that they [Spurs] were very interested. That is special,” said Dost.
However, Dost was not convinced by what the English club had in mind for him.
“I don’t think I would have become a starter there and I just want to play.”
Dost would have been used as a deputy for England striker Harry Kane, and this is the reason he was cool on Tottenham’s interest.
He also stated that leaving a club after one season would have been out of character for him.
Dost said: “I have never left a club after one year in my career. Especially not now, because I still have a lot to show here.
“I am far from finished at Eintracht.”
The prolific target man scored 10 goals in 30 appearances last season, far below his usual standard.
In the new campaign, Dost has already found the net twice in Eintracht’s opening three games, in addition to contributing two assists.
He scored in Man of the Match performances against Hertha and Hoffenheim, signs that he has returned to his best form.
Dost has scored 231 career goals in 441 games, playing for the likes of Wolfsburg and Sporting CP.
