Sarr, 22, has been in the headlines in recent days after it emerged Manchester United had contacted Watford for him.
However, the Hornets did not appreciate United’s offer of a loan with the option to buy, rejecting it.
And it turns out that Rennes also made a loan bid for Sarr to compensate for the loss of Raphinha, who yesterday joined Leeds.
The offer was unsurprisingly rejected, with Senegal international Sarr remaining at Watford… for now.
Premier League and Championship clubs can still do business until October 21, giving United or another side extra time to sign Sarr.
Watford paid around €30m to bring in Sarr from Metz and he made a good impression in his first year.
Despite Watford’s eventual relegation, Sarr clocked up five goals and six assists in the Premier League last season.
