Douglas Costa close to dramatic Bayern Munich return

Bayern Munich are close to re-signing Douglas Costa from Juventus, according to reports in Germany.

Having failed in an attempt to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, they have turned to ‘Plan B’ Costa, Kicker reports.

Bayern and Juve are now discussing a loan, which will most likely not include an option to buy.

Costa, 30, has given his approval for a move back to Bayern, where he played from 2015 until 2018.

Bayern boss Hansi Flick wants a fourth winger to join Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry as his options.

Brazil international Costa is older than the three of them and will bring experience and quality to the Bayern side.

Bayern are having a busy end to the transfer window, having signed Marc Roca with Bouna Sarr and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also arriving.

Costa’s exit from Juventus could pave the way for a last ditch deal for Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa.
