Genoa sign Uzbekistan striker Eldor Shomurodov for €8m

FK Rostov have confirmed the sale of Uzbekistan striker Eldor Shomurodov to Genoa.

Shomurodov, 25, joins the Serie A side for a reported fee of around €8m.

Last season, Shomurodov scored 11 goals and contributed seven assists in the Russian Premier League for Rostov.

In the new RPL season, Shomurodov has failed to find the net in eight appearances but Genoa have bet on him.

Belgian side Gent had a €5m bid for the centre forward rejected in early July.

Shomurodov joined Rostov from FC Bunyodkor in 2017 and made a total of 91 appearances.

His move to Italy is a big moment for Uzbek football, where many of its stars play locally or in Asia.

Shomurodov has been prolific for his national team, scoring 20 goals in his 40 caps.
