Godin agrees Cagliari move, freeing Inter to sign Vidal

Cagliari have agreed a deal in principle to sign veteran centre-back Diego Godin from Inter.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Godin agreed both a severance package with Inter and personal terms with Cagliari today.

Godin, 35, only arrived at the San Siro last summer, joining on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan international made 36 appearances for Inter, finding the net twice.

Godin’s move to Sardinia frees up a non-European spot that will allow Inter to finalise the signing of Arturo Vidal.

Vidal’s move from Barcelona has been delayed while Inter negotiated Godin’s exit.

New contacts are expected tomorrow to get the final go-ahead for the arrival of the Chilean midfielder.
