Union’s Sebastian Andersson heading to Cologne for €6m

Sweden striker Sebastian Andersson is set to undergo a medical after Cologne agreed a fee with Union Berlin.

According to Express, Cologne will pay around €6m for Andersson who scored 12 Bundesliga goals last season.

Andersson had a €5m release clause that expired in August, meaning Union will earn more than they had probably expected.

Celtic, Lille, Schalke and several English clubs showed interest in the 29-year-old forward.

Cologne have swooped for Andersson as a replacement for Jhon Cordoba, who is joining Hertha.

Effzeh hope to bring in midfielder Ondrej Duda from Hertha as part of the Cordoba deal.

With the money they receive, Cologne would then look for another striker with Bochum’s Silvere Ganvoula under discussion.

15/9 UPDATE:

Andersson’s move from Union Berlin to Cologne is now official.
