According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the English club offered €35m including add-ons.
However, that wasn’t enough for Lille to part with the talented French under-21 international.

Newcastle tried to sign Soumare, 21, in the winter market but he turned down a move to the English club.
“We had a bid accepted that would have nearly got us to our record transfer eight days ago, but the player wanted to stay where he was,” Steve Bruce said in January.
“He was our number one target and unfortunately, we couldn’t do it.”
Lille signed Soumare from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 after promising him first team football.
And they have followed through on that pledge, with Soumare making 70 appearances since his arrival.
