Cagliari complete €10m signing of Ajax’s Razvan Marin

Cagliari have completed the signing of Romania midfielder Razvan Marin from Ajax on loan with an obligation to buy.

The 24-year-old’s move to Cagliari will become a permanent €10m deal no later than 1 July, 2024.

Marin’s contract with Cagliari will run until 30 June, 2025.

Ajax paid €12.5m to sign Marin from Standard Liege last year as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong.

However, he struggled at the Amsterdam side and made only 10 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Ajax will therefore be happy to have lost only €2.5m on Marin after his disappointing spell at the club.

Marin remains highly rated elsewhere and several clubs showed interest, with Cagliari deciding to take a punt on the creative midfielder.
