Marseille snap up Yuto Nagatomo on a one-year deal

Marseille are signing free agent Yuto Nagatomo with the Japan left-back to undergo a medical on Monday.

The 33-year-old left Galatasaray after two-and-half years in Turkey when his contract expired in June.

Former Inter man Nagatomo was keen on a return to Italy, but has received an attractive offer from Marseille.

According to Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport, he will sign a one-year deal and serve as Jordan Amavi’s understudy.

Nagatomo will add experience and depth to Andre Villas-Boas’ side, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season.

In a long-spanning international career, Nagatomo has played 122 times for Japan, appearing in the last three World Cups.
