Roma full-back Davide Santon close to Besiktas move

Besiktas are close to signing left-back Davide Santon from Roma, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Santon, 29, is poised to leave Roma after two years at the capital club, and Turkey is his likely destination.

The eight-time Italian international is ‘closer and closer’ to Besiktas, who are also trying to sign Nikola Kalinic.

Should the deal go through, it will be Santon’s second foreign adventure.

The former Inter player spent three and a half seasons with Newcastle before returning to Italy.

He swapped Inter for Roma as part of a deal that saw Radja Nainggolan join the Nerazzurri in 2018.

Since then he has played a bit-part role for the capital club, starting only 18 Serie A matches over the past two seasons.
