Marcelo Bechler: Lionel Messi wants to join Manchester City

Lionel Messi has chosen Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as his next club, according to Marcelo Bechler.

Brazilian journalist Bechler was the first to break Neymar’s move to PSG and Messi’s decision to leave Barca this summer.

And he now claims that Messi is eyeing a reunion with Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Messi, 33, has formally told Barcelona that he plans to leave Camp Nou this summer.

The Catalan club dispute Messi’s belief he can trigger an exit clause that allows him to leave for free at the end of the season.

The clause expired on June 30, but Messi’s camp believe it remains active because the season was elongated.

City have distanced themselves from Messi speculation, but it is believed they retain their years-long interest.

The Citizens have repeatedly tried to sign Messi over the years to no avail. But everything has now changed and we could see one of the biggest transfers of all time.
