Manchester City fail in new attempt for Leonardo Bonucci

Manchester City have made a renewed effort to sign Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the 33-year-old and tried to sign him after taking over at City.

Bonucci instead moved to AC Milan before returning to Juve a year later, where he has played since.

City have again been exploring a move for Bonucci, but once more have not received the answer they wanted.

Despite being flattered by City’s interest, Bonucci has decided to stay at Juventus and support new boss Andrea Pirlo.

As a result, City and Juventus did not even start negotiations with the player’s mind already made up.

City’s main target now seems to be Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli, with talks ongoing over a deal for the defender.
