A deal worth between £45-50m (€50-55.5m) has almost been agreed between the clubs for England left-back Chilwell.
Chilwell has been suffering from a heel injured sustained in July and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on his recovery.
He is expected to make a full recovery in around three weeks, meaning he would be ready for Chelsea’s season opener against Brighton on September 14th.
Unless of any hitches, Frank Lampard will land his number one target for the left-back spot.
Leicester were demanding £80m (€88.8m) for Chilwell, but Chelsea’s tough negotiating Marina Granovskaia has negotiated it down to a more reasonable fee.
A number of players have been linked with the left-back spot at Chelsea, including Real Madrid’s impressive Sergio Reguilon.
However, Ornstein states that there have been no serious approaches for anyone besides Chilwell.
