Viewed as one of Europe’s best young centre-backs, Upamecano recently renewed his Leipzig contract until 2023.
His new deal includes a release clause of around €45m that will be valid from next summer.
And despite his new contract, Leipzig could be tempted into selling the Frenchman if a huge offer arrives.
In a lengthy interview with Sportbuzzer, Oliver Mintzlaff made it clear that any player can go for the right price.
“There is always a pain threshold,” said Mintzlaff. “If a completely immoral offer comes, we will have to think. But we do not expect that it will happen in this time of crisis.”
The question also related to Nordi Mukiele, Leipzig’s impressive young right-back.
