Despite Jurgen Klopp being keen on the Spanish maestro, Liverpool have been slow to step up their interest.
That has now changed, with BILD stating that Liverpool have contacted Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic this week.
Liverpool want to pay a maximum of €30m for Thiago, but Bayern are looking for something closer to €40m.
Thiago and Liverpool already have an agreement in principle, with everything now depending on the clubs successfully negotiating a price.
But Liverpool’s official approach is a signal that Thiago’s move to Anfield is getting closer.
