Willian, who turned 32 on Sunday, had a number of offers on the table, but has opted to stay in London with the Gunners.
Chelsea wanted to keep the Brazilian attacker but would only offer him two years.
The club’s usual policy is to offer one-year extensions to players over the age of 30, and they were unwilling to go beyond two years for Willian.
On the other hand, Arsenal had no issues offering Willian the three-year contract he was after.
And it seems Willian has already passed a medical, with Jack Rosser of the Evening Standard breaking the news.

Willian scored 63 goals for Chelsea and won five major honours, including the Premier League and FA Cup.
