Official: Real Madrid starlet Take Kubo loaned to Villarreal

Villarreal have won the race to sign Japanese sensation Takefusa Kubo on loan from Real Madrid.

In an official statement, Madrid announced that Kubo, 19, will spend the entire 2020-21 season at Villarreal.

At least 29 clubs contacted Madrid about Kubo following his impressive year on loan at Real Mallorca.

Real Sociedad and Osasuna were among the frontrunners to loan him, but Unai Emery’s Villarreal are the chosen team.

At Villarreal, Kubo can experience European football after the club qualified for the Europa League.

Attacking midfielder Kubo made 35 appearances (23 starts) in La Liga for Mallorca with a return of four goals and four assists.
