The 33-year-old is no longer in Juve’s plans and the club wants to shed his heavy €3.5m-per-year salary.
Matuidi was a key figure for Juventus under both Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri, but Andrea Pirlo has other plans.
His performances have declined sharply in the past year and Juventus will be looking to refresh their squad.
A €20m signing from PSG in 2017, Matuidi carved out an important role in Max Allegri’s successful Juve side.
In particular, his athleticism and flexibility allowed Allegri to use him as a ‘joker’ in the midfield.
Even Sarri used him regularly in the 2019-20 season, with Matuidi appearing 45 times in all competitions.
But his decline in recent months combined with his salary and age have led to the Old Lady deciding to sell him.
And Inter Miami are in pole position to sign the experienced Frenchman.
Saber Desfarges of RMC Sport and Gianluca Di Marzio say the deal is done, with Matuidi taking a medical in Paris.
