Sevilla coach, Julen Lopetegui, who signed Corona while in charge of Porto in 2015, is pushing for the Mexican.
Lopetegui is ‘really committed’ to reuniting with Tecatito and has asked Sevilla’s board to pursue a deal.
The two only worked together for half a season at Porto before Lopetegui was sacked in January 2016.
It would be an expensive transfer for Sevilla that could reach up to €30m, but Corona’s stats speak volumes.
Corona delivered 14 assists in Liga NOS this season while also scoring four goals.
The 42-time Mexico international has matured into a high-level player and is now entering his prime.
Sevilla will be in next season’s Champions League after finishing fourth and want to bolster their squad.
