Upamecano, 21, is one of the most highly-rated young centre-backs in Europe and has been linked with big moves.
Any club interested in activating his release clause must do so by Friday when it expires.
After that, Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche will be back in control of the player’s future.
According to Sportbuzzer, Upamecano is in fact close to signing a contract renewal with Die Roten Bullen.
His current deal runs out in 2021 and Leipzig have been talking about selling him if he doesn’t sign new terms.
But similar to Timo Werner last year, Upamecano could now pen a new deal with an affordable release clause for next year.
