The Portuguese giants have been considering 33-year-old Cavani as a marquee signing for new boss Jorge Jesus.
But the player’s financial demands are too much for Benfica, who made an offer not to Cavani’s liking.
Cavani is after a €12m-per-season deal, an amount well beyond what Benfica can pay.
“In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach [Marcelo Bielsa],” Radrizzani told Sky Italia.
‘El Matador’ left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract after scoring 200 goals in seven seasons there.
