Benevento call off Loic Remy deal after failed medical

Benevento have pulled out of a deal for French striker Loic Remy after his medical tests, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

Remy, 33, was all set to join the newly-promoted Serie A club as one of their statement signings.

But after passing the first part of his medical tests, Remy failed to produce the necessary results afterwards.

Doctors stopped the medical and, for now at least, Remy does not have the required fitness to play in Italy.

It leaves the former Chelsea and Marseille star in a difficult spot after he quit Lille to join Benevento.

Lille had offered Remy, a 30-time France international, a contract extension which he turned down.

Benevento boss Pippo Inzaghi requested the signing of Remy and will be left disappointed by this news.
