Boca Juniors and River Plate turn down Antonio Valencia

Argentine giants Boca Juniors and River Plate have turned down the chance to sign Antonio Valencia, according to TyC Sports.

The former Manchester United player left Ecuadorian side LDU Quito on Sunday due to the Coronavirus impact.

And Valencia, 34, was offered to Boca and River by his agent, with both clubs turning down the opportunity.

Beyond the financial factors, River have the highly-rated Gonzalo Montiel at right-back.

Valencia departed Man United a year ago following a decade at the Premier League club.

After returning to his homeland, Valencia made 28 appearances for Quito.

Quito have left the door open for Valencia to return in future when things get back to normal in Ecuador.
