Leeds to use €5.5m option to buy Lorient’s Illan Meslier

Leeds United will use their option to buy French goalkeeper Illan Meslier from Lorient, according to Foot Mercato.

The 20-year-old is on a season-long loan at Leeds, who are closing in on promotion to the Premier League.

The loan deal gives Leeds the chance to purchase Meslier for £5m (€5.5m) at the end of the season.

Despite being a back-up for much of the season, he has started in Leeds’ last six Championship games.

In three of those matches, Meslier kept a clean sheet and Leeds have been impressed by the France under-20 international.

As a result, they reportedly plan to exercise their option to buy Meslier from Ligue 2 side Lorient.
