Markus Suttner is torn between a return to boyhood club Austria Vienna or joining Wolfsberger AC, Transfer Nexus understands.
And left-back Suttner is returning to the Austrian Bundesliga for the final stage of his career.
At the moment, two options are on the table for Suttner, which present him with a tough decision.
The first choice is to return to Austria Vienna, the club he joined as a youngster and played for until 2015.
Suttner would have to accept a much lower salary in order for Austria to be able to afford him.
However, it would be an emotional and feel-good homecoming to the Generali Arena for Suttner.
The other interested club at present is Wolfsberger AC, who have stronger finances and can offer Europa League football.
Much will depend on if Suttner wants a comfortable end to his career or feels he can still push himself.
A player with pedigree
Whichever club signs Suttner will be getting a player with a wealth of experience.
He left Austria for FC Ingolstadt 04 in 2015 after they won promotion to the German Bundesliga.
In his second season with Die Schanzer, the club was relegated but his good performances led to interest.
Suttner struggled to find consistent game time on the south coast of England and soon headed to Fortuna Dusseldorf.
With Fortuna’s relegation to the 2. Bundesliga, Suttner has decided to return to Austria.
Suttner won 20 caps for Austria between 2012 and 2017 and was part of their UEFA Euro 2016 squad.
