A move over a year in the making, Sané is signing a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.
The transfer fee is said to be ‘significantly lower’ than it would have been last year, and is thought to be just under €50m.
Last year, the Manchester club wanted more than €100m for Sané.
The 24-year-old also agreed to take a lower salary than the €20m-per-season he had wanted before due to the Coronavirus situation.
BILD adds that Leroy will move to Bayern in early August when the Premier League season ends.
City have not shown any serious interest in using Sané for their remaining Champions League games, which will enable him to move to Munich earlier.
Sané has made 139 appearances in four seasons for City, scoring 39 goals. He joined the club from Schalke in 2016 and is now returning to the Bundesliga.
The skillful German international won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in the 2017-18 season.
