The Spanish team’s interest in centre-back Leite, 21, is nothing new and talks were well advanced before COVID-19.
Los Ches still want to close a deal for Leite and could officially sign him next month.
However, a new name being associated with Valencia is 18-year-old Esteves, a very promising right-back.
Valencia want Esteves and Leite, both Portugal under-21 internationals, to strengthen Albert Celades’ squad for next season.
The transfers now depend on powerful agent Jorge Mendes, who Valencia have delegated the negotiations to.
Mendes will work as an intermediary and a double deal for Leite and Esteves could be done for around €40m.
