Koulibaly is the favourite CB for Manchester City to sign. Laporte and Eric Garcia are the CB assured for next season (if Stones have a good offer could go) and club will make an effort. The 29-year-old has consistently been one of Serie A’s best defenders over the past few seasons and could leave this summer.
However, he will not go cheap with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis recently saying the Senegal defender will cost €100m.
“If City or United or PSG with €100m showed up, I would think about it and it is probable that they would leave, always if their will was to leave,” De Laurentiis told Corriere dello Sport.
“I don’t even consider an offer of €60m.”
British journalist Duncan Castles also states that Koulibaly is City’s main choice to strengthen their defence.
Guardiola’s side has lacked stability at the back this season due to the long-term absence of Aymeric Laporte.
John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi could leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, creating a vacancy at the back.
Soyuncu and Bastoni on the list
Two younger central defenders are under consideration at Man City as alternatives to Koulibaly.
The Italy under-21 international could be a cheaper option than Koulibaly or Soyuncu.
