Canadian goal machine David has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young forwards.
David has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season and is ready for the leap to a major European league.
The 20-year-old has made it clear that he would like to leave Belgium, but Gent will not let him go cheap.
Gladbach offered €25m for David, but Gent turned it down and want between €30m and €35m.
His entourage have met with a host of clubs in recent months and there will be no shortage of options.
HLN states that Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, Lyon, Porto, Ajax, Inter and AC Milan have all been in touch with David’s agent.
Italian giants Inter are considering David in case they fail to sign Edinson Cavani.
Gent seek replacements
Gent are searching for a new striker, anticipating David’s exit from the Ghelamco Arena.
They have set the bar high, turning down the chance to sign highly-rated Argentine striker Adolfo Gaich.
San Lorenzo forward Gaich, a player linked with Inter and Leeds, was offered to Gent for €12m.
But Gent’s scouts found that Gaich would be too ‘light’ for what they were looking for.
The chosen one to replace David could be Dieumerci Mbokani, who is coming to the end of his Antwerp contract.
34-year-old Mbokani is proven in the Jupiler Pro League and is the joint top scorer with David on 18 goals this season.
