FC Groningen had been expected to sign Diemers, but when Feyenoord made an approach he changed his mind.
An impressive performer for Fortuna Sittard this season, Diemers scored seven goals and provided six assists.
Feyenoord head coach Dick Advocaat spoke highly of the talented midfielder.
“He made an excellent impression on me in the three games Feyenoord played against Fortuna Sittard last season,” Advocaat said.
“Other matches he’s played in have also shown he has the necessary qualities for Feyenoord.”
Diemers couldn’t hide his delight about joining the Rotterdam giants.
“I wouldn’t have thought this two or three years ago,” he said. “That a beautiful club like Feyenoord wants me makes me proud.
“Last week I went to 1908 [training complex] for a conversation with the coaches. That was very nice. I will have to work hard for my place, but I will do my utmost for that.”
