Anderlecht starlet Romeo Lavia close to Man City move

Anderlecht wonderkid Romeo Lavia has rejected a new contract and is close to joining Manchester City, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

The 16-year-old defensive midfielder is one of Anderlecht’s ‘greatest talents’ and losing him is a blow for them.

Manchester United and Liverpool showed serious interest in Lavia, but Vincent Kompany’s former club City seem to have won the race.

Lavia had become a focal point of the ‘RSCA 20-25’ plan created by Kompany and Wouter Vandenhaute for the future.

Anderlecht offered the under-16 captain a long-term contract, but the financial strength of City was too great.

Lavia has also captained Belgium at under-15 level, a sign of his leadership skills.
