According to SPORT, Barcelona received an ‘important offer’ from an unnamed English club in recent days.
Renowned agent Jorge Mendes present the offer, which would have involved a €25m transfer fee plus a big wage increase for Alena.
Upon hearing the offer, the Catalan club immediately spoke to Alena’s agent, Iván de la Peña, a former Barca player.
De la Peña’s answer was clear and concise: Alena has no interest in leaving and his mind is on succeeding at Camp Nou.
Alena’s idea is to impress head coach Quique Setién during pre-season training. If Setién decides against using him, the midfielder would be open to another loan move.
Spain under-21 international Alena rarely featured for his parent club before joining Betis on loan.
Alena still believes he can make a full breakthrough at his beloved Barcelona.
He has been mentioned as a possible makeweight in a deal for Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertz in recent weeks.
But that is another route Alena would not be interested in – his mind is only on Barca.
