The La Stampa newspaper claimed on Saturday that Juventus had reached a deal for the 20-year-old.
However, other sources including Fabrizio Romano disputed that, saying Inter were in pole position.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio today, both teams are racing to sign Kumbulla, but Inter are ahead.
Verona have now set a price for Kumbulla of €28m plus €7m in add-ons. The club agreed to sell Kumbulla to Napoli for €21m plus €4m in January, but the player rejected the move.
With the Old Lady and Nerazzurri now duking it out for the Albanian, his fee has shot up.
Juventus plan to meet with Verona again this coming week to show they are serious about Kumbulla.
Inter have money, players to swap and may even allow Kumbulla to return to Verona on loan for a season.
For that reason, Inter are ahead… but Juventus are ready to fight for Marash Kumbulla.
