Sporting midfielder Joao Palhinha close to Wolves move

Joao Palhinha is set to leave Sporting CP for an English club, A BOLA reports.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has spent the season on loan at SC Braga from Sporting, and has impressed.

However, he won’t be returning to Lisbon for long as a Premier League club are very close to signing him.

The club are ‘working discreetly’ on a deal worth around €15m, but A BOLA believes it is Wolves.

At Wolves he could be viewed as the successor to compatriot Joao Moutinho, a former Sporting star himself.

Wolves are led by Portuguese coach Nuno Espírito Santo and have a big contingent of players from Portugal.

Former youth international Palhinha is under contract with the Leões until 2023.
