Feyenoord release Renato Tapia on a free transfer

Feyenoord have allowed midfielder Renato Tapia to leave the club following a disappointing spell at De Kuip.

The 24-year-old Peru international arrived from Twente in 2016 with Feyenoord paying a €2.4m fee.

Tapia struggled to make any sort of impression at Feyenoord in his 45 Eredivisie appearances.

In 2019, Feyenoord loaned Tapia out to Willem II for half a season, and he made 16 appearances, scoring once.

Tapia has been told that his contract will not be extended, freeing him to find a new club.

The defensive midfielder was linked with Scottish clubs Celtic and Rangers in the January transfer window.
