The 18-year-old, one of the many great young talents emerging in Germany, has shone for Hertha’s youth teams.
And as Diario AS reports, that has led to widespread interest with some of Europe’s heavyweights monitoring his progress.
Big clubs go bargain hunting
The economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis means top clubs will be looking for potential at affordable prices.
Samardzic perfectly fits these parameters, because he has enormous upside but is not yet playing professionally.
His current value according to Transfermarkt is just €450,000, pocket money for the likes of Man City and Juventus.
New Hertha head coach Bruno Labbadia has great faith in young Samardzic and wants to give him a new contract and playing time in the Bundesliga.
Samardzic will inevitably join a bigger club, but Hertha want is to develop the teenager before letting him move.
A more physical James Rodriguez?
In the Bundesliga under-19 league this season he has 14 goals and 9 assists in 16 matches. Last season with the under-17s, he scored 16 and assisted 10 goals in just 15 games.
His performances for Hertha’s youth teams have led to international call-ups, with his Germany under-19 debut coming when he was just 17.
Samardzic is a talent who scouts are raving about and that is why big European clubs want him. Hertha will fight to hold on to their young jewel though by promising him Bundesliga games next season.
