Clubs in England and Italy are also linked with the 28-year-old, but stunning new information reveals that it is Atletico Madrid who are poised to sign him.
Colombian journalist Javier Hernández Bonnet sensationally claims that the Madrid clubs are in advanced talks over a deal for James.
Bonnet goes as far as to claim that James could already be considered 80% an Atletico Madrid player.
“If Real Madrid want to recover some of their money, they need to close the deal,” the journalist told Blu Radio (via AS).
“If they don’t do it between now and December, James will be a free agent. Real Madrid should open the door for James.
“The same sources that told us when he moved to Bayern Munich, have said the operation is 80% done.”
While a move across Madrid may be controversial, Rodriguez has no issues with it. The Colombian ace is reportedly happy to join Atleti from both a personal and sporting perspective.
Rodriguez spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich, but returned to Madrid in June.
