Manchester United to edge out Spurs in Joe Hugill race

Manchester United are poised to sign Sunderland prospect Joe Hugill after Tottenham delayed a move for the teenager, according to The Sun.

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs had been in pole position to land Hugill, 16, an exciting talent who features above his age group for the Black Cats.

Tottenham sent scout Ian Broomfield to watch Hugill shortly before the Coronavirus lockdown, but United have taken advantage of their delay by making a six-figure move for the forward.

United, having already poached Hugill’s teammate Logan Pye, are in touch with Sunderland about a deal and hope to add him to their famous academy set-up.
